A method for monitoring and reducing pest-density by attracting bark beetles with the smell of alcohol from a week-growth tree and catching pests with a sticky trap

Target Crops

Trees infested by tree beetles such as an apple, plum, apricot, grapes, etc.

Target Pests

Bark beetles: Omnivorous pest that attacks more than 60 kinds of trees such as apple, plum, apricot, grapes, etc. The leaves of damaged branches wither, the growth of the tree rapidly weakens, and in severe cases, the tree dies. Overwintering adult pests in April-May, first-generation in June-August, and second-generation in September-October, gather to target trees with weak growth less than 2-6 years old.

How to Use the Bark Beetle Trap

· Install the traps around trees with weak growth, 20 to 30 cm above the ground, outside of the orchard using a pipe or a pole that the trap can be hung on.
· The timing of monitoring and the amount of lure to be released may vary depending on temperature changes.
